** This segment aired on Telemundo Atlanta on March 24, 2021**

Gaby: Hello Friends, and welcome to the Minute of Immigration with Attorney Luis Virguez from Virguez Law. Attorney, what is the infamous 10 Year Law about?

Luis: well, this is a question that we receive in our office a lot. “I have more than 10 years in the US, can I adjust my immigration status? The answer is probably. The 10 Year Law is a defense against deportation. If you’re in a process of deportation and have been in the US for more than 10 years, together with other requirements such as having children born here or a significant other that is a legal resident or US citizen you could qualify fot this benefit. It’s a humanitarian visa and you will need to prove that your family will be facing extreme difficulty if you’re deported. Thus, the 10 Year Law does exist, but it’s only a defense against deportation and, as always, I want to remind you to be careful with those attorneys that want to put you in a deportation process.

Gaby: Thanks for clarifying this issue attorney. If you want to know more, please visit the website shown on the screen.
