Community Outreach

Resilience and community during a pandemic. (2020-2021)

During 2020, Virguez Law was able to not only preserve their staff positions amid a worldwide pandemic, but also to expand their team by hiring additional bilingual staff. Their growth paired with their mission to offer a personalized attention enabled them to encourage their clients and potential customers through one of the most crucial times in human history. While courts and other governmental institutions shut down for months, the firm didn’t stop working but instead was successful at navigating new avenues to communicate and make progress with their clients day after day. Their workload increased as new customers trusted them with their lives and future in this country.

Because the community is the firm’s number one priority, Virguez Law carried out several initiatives that were relevant to the times we’ve all been going through but that seem to have particularly impacted the Hispanic community. Virguez Law is a strong believer in the power of communication, not just in the legal aspects, but also to encourage, educate and empower those around them. Such initiatives included the following categories:

Free Consultations

During great part of the pandemic, the attorneys at Virguez Law were gracious enough to offer assistance to those hurting the most and free consultations for all case types. The firm received a lot of positive feedback from grateful clients as they felt their needs were taken into consideration in such hard and devastating times.

Frequent Communication

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Campaign

October

As an initiative to create awareness for breast cancer, the firm launched a campaign in social media for Hispanic women, reminding them of the importance to have an annual screening. Virguez Law is actively pursuing opportunities to educate the community, and as an incentive, two lucky winners received a voucher each for a thermography at a local naturopathic wellness center. This is an FDA cleared digital infrared scan that offers no pain, radiation, or contact.

Virguez Law’s 1st Turkey Drive

November

As Thanksgiving 2020 approached, the management team at Virguez Law put their heads together to see what they could do in order to help families in the community with their Thanksgiving preparations. Together they brainstormed and birthed the idea of a turkey drive that would help one local grocery store and 100 families in need. The event was promoted on billboards, radio, and all social media channels with an amazing turn-out. Attorney Luis Virguez’s desire was to show appreciation to neighbors, clients and anyone interested by simply putting a smile on their faces and taking some of their burden away. This drive-thru event was held in the parking area of the firm’s office building with the entire legal time and staff participating. The crowd was beyond excited and appreciated the gesture with kind words during the event, emails and messages. The turkeys were a huge hit and the firm plans to make of this event an annual tradition.

The Spirit of Giving Toy Drive

November

The Latin American Association in Atlanta hosts an annual toy drive for hundreds of Latino children, and Virguez Law couldn’t resist the opportunity to sponsor some of these families. The firm bought 250 toys and dropped them off at the headquarters on the LAA along with eco-friendly bags. Attorney Luis Virguez also visited the headquarters with a few other people from his staff that were working as volunteers. Children of all ages were the recipients of 250 smiles, so the team was ecstatic to participate and help in such times as these.

Summer Without Accidents

Awareness Campaign

Virguez Law strongly believes that the well-being of their clients is their number one priority and frequent campaigns to reinforce this belief is a civil duty. The firm’s clients and followers are seeing a consistent message through their social media platforms during the 2021 summer reminding them to be safe at all times, which requires them to be mindful of others as well. “Don’t exceed the speed limit”, “avoid distractions while driving”, “don’t drink and drive” are a few of the many key reminders Virguez Law wants to instill in their readers in order to avoid regrettable accidents. Luis Virguez has repeatedly echoed to have fun while being safe.

Impact on the Community

The results from all the initiatives in 2020-2021 have been mind-blowing. Because of Luis’ earned respect in the community, many people see him as a thought leader in the immigration field. He’s no stranger to all the local Hispanic TV and radio stations. Thought leadership is a special place and only consistent credibility over the years will lead any one individual to that position. With the ultimate goal to inform, educate and empower the community, Luis plans to export his passion to other territories. Hispanics need to know their value and need honest influencers who can inspire them and guide them in order to have a better future.

Luis’ insights have also been graciously shared at forums and conferences. In April 2021 alone, the firm had its own private event at the Hilton in Peachtree Corners where over 50 leaders in the community were invited to a free luncheon and conference. Virguez Law wowed the crowd of leaders when they shared statistics, projections and finished the forum answering every one of the questions these leaders had. One of the most important topics shared at this forum had an educational module that many people were unaware of and that is currently hurting their spaces and communities. The topic of public notaries, fake attorneys and other individuals that take advantage of vulnerable immigrants was of great importance. The discussion turned into moments of reflection and action where these leaders were challenged to positively inform, educate and help their peers, employees, and groups in general in order to avoid more fraud.

As Virguez Law celebrates their 5th Anniversary, Luis and his team have demonstrated they have a deep understanding of Immigration and Personal Injury Law. Their expertise and ongoing involvement with the community have clearly proven their leadership position with a credible and remarkable stand. A stand that is only possible by the continued support of their clients, friends and providers and by the respect they have earned from peers, the industry itself and media.
